Description
Join us on this episode of CRT2 as we investigate the disproportionate harm the juvenile criminal system has on Black children. When we say juvenile criminal system, we are referring to a system of state led and state sanctioned policing, prosecution, and punishment of children under the age of 18.
The hypercriminalization of Black children denies them access to a true childhood. Young Black children are often perceived as older than they are, and the criminal legal system fails to protect them against these biases.
Every year, tens of thousands of children are caught up in the juvenile criminal system in America. The majority of them are Black and Brown.
